Confession

Okay, I confess. I have been totally cheating on my blog and have become addicted to facebook. I know, I never thought I would be the cheating type, but I was sucked in and now I am hooked. To make it up, I am posting my favorite new pic of Bennett.
Notice the lack of front teeth? He finally lost the other one, so now he has this huge adorable gap. This was taken on his first day of basketball, which he loved. Although he spent more time bouncing around the court than trying to actually play the game. At least he had fun :)

My Litte Pyro

So, this is a little belated but it has taken me awhile to get all my holiday pics downloaded. Do you like my son Pyro Cam? We rang in the New Year with sparklers, and I was both surprised and delighted that all my kids were willing to try it. Then when I was looking through the pictures I realized Cam was maybe a little too excited about the fireworks, we may have to keep our eye on this one.
This weekend marks yet another winter camp for my hubby and his crew. And unfortunately, with the start of the new year there is the rekindling of weight watchers for me so that means I have to live on something other than Happy Meals with the kids this weekend. At least the weather is supposed to be nice so the kids won't get too crazy. Although their new favorite sport is the Hardwood Floor Slide. They are getting really good at it, I think it should be a new Olympic event. It was frustrating at first having them run and slide through the house all the time but I realized that they are dusting the floors while they do it so now I don't mind. Now if only I could get them to slide on the countertops the kitchen might get clean too.

Bring your child to work day

Today is Tuesday, which in my world means banking, grocery shopping, and random quick errands with Camden while KJ is at school. As we bounced from place to place this morning I noticed a lot of moms with kids out and about. In Michael's I had to laugh as I found myself judging this one mom I saw who was trying to hand her kid every sticker sheet and toy within reach to keep her quiet. As I listened to the critical thoughts in my head I looked down at my son, lollipop in mouth, and realized we all have our own methods of surviving the store. I also realized that every day in my world is bring your child to work day. Every day I manage family finances, maintain household cleanliness and order (ha ha...sometimes), organize calendars and arrange meetings (aka playdates), feed and doctor anyone within reach, and try to keep up with educational studies (for myself and my kids). No wonder I can never get anything done! Being a parent would be a lot easier if we didn't always have are kids hanging around.

Let it Snow

For most people around the country winter means snow, so why not in Santa Barbara? All my life I have dreamed of it snowing here, all the way down to the beach. Thanks to global warming we have gotten closer to it over the past few years, but still no snow. For my kids, winter means foggy mornings (well, technically they get that all year), rainy days, and an average of 65 on most days. So, when they tell me they yearn for snow I sympathize with them and do what any other loving and creative mother would do, I head to the craft store and buy some sort of toxic artificial snow in a jar hoping for a suitable substitute. While it is not even close to the "powder" they have on the mountains, I thought it would still be fun. We put on our scientist caps and added water to watch the snow grow, and after about 2 minutes the fun was over and mommy got to clean up the mess. Note to self, there is no substitute for real snow. Next time we will just go get icee's at 7-11 and call it a day.
