Weekend Away

We went up to Pismo Beach this past weekend for a Student Ministry staff retreat. It was really nice to get away for a few days! The only downside was that the house we were in totally smelled like fish. We never could figure out why, although I really think there was something dead in one of the locked closets :)
I took the kids to the Avila Farm while Matt was leading his meetings. I love that place! The kids loved all the animals and pumpkins, and then when we went shopping through the barn they had all sorts of free candy samples and my kids totally left on a sugar high. Kendall kept saying, "We can have another one? Really?" Yes darling, that is what vacation is all about!
The above picture is from the "dinosaur park" at shell beach. Can you tell they had fun? Oh, and I have a quick funny story for you. Last week in the car Bennett was "teaching" Kendall about geography and he said "Did you know that there is a state in the middle called Nebraska and they don't have any ocean around them so they don't have any beaches? If they want to go to the beach they have to drive all the way to Washington or Oregon or California or Texas, and that is a really long drive!" Oh, my sweet child. I guess they haven't covered the eastern states yet. I think he was pretty concerned for those poor people in Nebraska who don't have beaches, I probably shouldn't tell him about all of the other landlocked states. Hopefully we won't get called to minister to a beach-less state anytime soon :)

That story is so cute! And I have to say that your kids get cuter with each passing day.
