The blind leading the blind

Have you ever heard the phrase "the blind leading the blind"? Usually it is said somewhat derogatorily. However, today it meant something very different for me. There is an older couple who lives in Goleta who I have seen quite a few times over the past ten years. By old, I mean maybe late 70's, and they are the cutest little pair in the whole wide world. What first catches your attention is their guide dog, and upon closer look you realize that not one, but both of them are visually impaired. They seem to manage incredibly well, using public transportation and walking closely together with their guide dog. I can't imagine living like that, but the amazing thing is that every time I seem them they seem to have a glowing inner joy and they seem to really love and care for each other. How sad is it that this kind of love and commitment is so rare. So today, despite the fact that I don't know them and didn't even speak with them, I was totally inspired by them. Have you ever been inspired by someone like that? I was inspired today to be thankful for all of the blessings in my life, and to treat my husband with the love and respect he deserves. I know that these are things that I typically try to do, but today was like a special mini reminder to try a little harder.
